Depending on your requirements and planning laws we can design the building from ‘outside to inside’ or ‘inside to outside’. The former design approach being ‘Form Follows Function’ and the latter approach being ‘Function Follows Form’.

Planning process can be quite confusing, but we at Designlabs London will make sure we explain you the whole process when we come out for an initial consultation. This initial meeting is purely for us to look at the project and assess it's potential. Whether you are developing a new build or extending an existing property, a successful application for planning permission is necessary in most cases, before any form of external construction is undertaken.

We provide extension advice on issues concerning planning permission and any local factors that may influence the modifications which can be made to a property. We take all your hassles away by measuring, creating drawings, having meeting with planners and undertaking planning negotiations & appeals on your behalf. All our projects are done bespoke using cutting-edge 3 Dimensional software and yet we are surprisingly affordable. We take control of designing, to create light airy spaces with contemporary interiors & guaranteed planning.

Once the drawings are finalised we submit a planning application to the local council on your behalf. This process usually takes up to eight weeks. In some larger projects, ‘Planning Committees’ appointed by the local council will make a decision - in which case the process takes up to several weeks. Once the permission is granted by planner, the planned works must start within 3 years. If the permission is denied, we can either appeal on your behalf or amend the plans & elevations by taking into account any problems raised by the council & then re-submit your planning application.

Once you have received the planning permission, we can then quote you for Building Regulation Drawings, which can be produced along side our Structural Engineer. Within this pack you will receive full set of Construction layout, Setting out plans, Sanitation & Waste disposal plans, Electric & Lighting plans, along with specifications and structural calculations.

We offer free of charge 1 hour initial consultation to our new clients at their property. Within this meeting we discuss your requirements including time schedules and budgets and show you our portfolio of work examples to create a design brief. On the basis of this meeting a design quote is prepared for you.
